How do you see when two people of very different character come together as couples?

The boy and the girl, nicknamed as Dinosaur and Elephant is therefore a typical example.

I myself cannot imagine how people could get along  without nothing in common. Experience told that compromise is all what is left when a relationship reaches it's final stage. I guess that solves the case.
